Mother Nature: The healer (Elderly and Biophilia)

They lived their life and fought for pride, until their life became their burden. As the time goes by, their loneliness grows deeper, neglected, nothing left but the four walls. They pass their years, counting their time, worrying for their health to decline. That until, a sprout awoke and changed up their life. With every leaf that it spread their happiness did the same. It is undeniable how much nature can offer us, from the ability to live on earth to maintaining our sanity. Mental health has long been associated with nature, and the ones who need it the most which happen to be the elderly are the ones who are unable to keep their earthly connection due to their health restrictions. For this reason, I wanted to integrate nature into their homes through a simple book, through Biophilia. I wanted to portray what is it like going through depression and healing through Biophilia. Thus, I started with mashed text that are unreadable, dark, and unsettling. As every depressed and anxious person needs to feel these disturbing emotions in order to heal from them. In each spread the sprout grows and covers the whole page. In my book, I gathered studies and researches concerning how nature is a cure and how Biophilia is a great solution for those in need. The layouts follow the concept of beauty in nature: harmonious, balanced and sometimes symmetrical, while interacting with the different leaf prints. I chose a simple, non-serif font and a minimum of 12 point size, as it is most preferable for seniors, I also chose monotone green color as it represents nature, refreshment and peace.
